KEEPING UP WITH YOUR FITNESS

Is it just me, or has the beginning of 2017 just flown by?

We all usually have great plans and intentions for the start of the year, but sometimes life tends to get in the way.  Unfortunately, it’s usually your fitness regime that suffers. However, if you can push yourself to stay active, it will have huge, positive effects on your energy levels, quality of sleep and overall health.

Here are a few tips that I use to stay motivated!

Join a class or hire a coach:

I find a great way to keep myself active is by surrounding myself with other people or paying for a class in advance. This makes it a bit easier to hold yourself accountable. For instance, it’s a lot harder to skip a workout if you know you have someone meeting you or if you’ve already paid for the class.

Plan Ahead:

Mornings are a great time to workout and trust me, I am definitely not a morning person! However, I have found that by getting up just that extra half hour to an hour earlier everyday, not only boosts your mood and productivity for the day, but also kickstarts your metabolism. Which is what we’re working for right? Although, if mornings aren’t an option, it’s really just about scheduling your workout into your day and finding what works best for you.

Update Your Look:

A great way to stay motivated is by keeping your fitness attire fresh and updated. When you look good, you feel good and that’s encouraging in itself. Think about how you feel when you put on a great fitting pair of jeans or your favourite dress and apply the same emotion when looking for activewear. For me, Lulu Lemon has been my go to. They are always current in the latest trends and are very innovative when it comes to improving fabrics and design. Having a quality outfit can improve your attitude and enthusiasm for working out. It also makes it a bit easier if you have to run errands pre or post workout.

Maintain a Healthy Diet:

If you’re trying to make fitness a part of your daily lifestyle, then it is very important to be aware of your diet. With busy days, eating healthy is one of the biggest challenges many of us face. Although, skipping the take-out and planning more meals at home can be very beneficial. I try to plan my meals for the week ahead and usually stick to a few basic recipes that I know are healthy and can easily be thrown together. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is all about balance. Your diet and fitness feed off each other; you can’t have one without the other.
